#Limbo HenGoku is back with his take on a bluford series book SECRETS IN THE SHADOWSShelves: Drama, Realistic-Fiction, Romance
Age Range: Young Adult Author(s): Anne Schraff, Paul Langan Series: The Bluford Series Published: December 1st 2001, English Pages: 126 Synposis: This book focuses on Roylin Bailey, a Bluford sophomore who appears in A Matter of Trust. Roylin makes a terrible mistake: He steals money to buy a gift for the girl of his dreams and finds himself in a nightmare he cannot escape. Review Plot 10/10: I thought the plot of the book was very well contructed, engaging, and enjoyable pverall. There isn't anything left out in the book. All elements that this book had were skilfully brought together for a satisfying conclusion. Pacing 9/10: Story overall was not too fast and not too slow. It did at a point slow down a bit but then quickly picks up. I was engaged throughout the entire book, not wanting to put it down. Characters 10/10: The characters in this book are very likable and believable. Like the way they react to things is the same way people would react in real life. I did feel sympathy towards the main character though. I was very engaged with them and could not help but root for them to get out of what they're in and achieve what they wanted to achieve. They're all full developed. Writing 10/10: This book was really well written. There weren't really any grammar errors or sentences that ran too long. The sentences were long enough in fact. Wasn't too descriptive either. I found nothing wrong with the writting for this book Feels 10/10: I actually felt for the characters in the book. I felt bad for the situation they were in and wanted them to get out. I could relate to the characters in the book and what happened to them. Personal experiences: This book is one of my most favorite books of all time. Things that happen in this book really happens in real life. The only problem I had with this book was when it ended.... as in when I hit the final page of it. This book was intriguing, relatable, and the characters were likable for what they were. I honestly can't find any negatives about this book. Overall rating: 9.5/10 READ IT! Would I recommend this book? I recommend this book to everyone because I feel like everyone should read it at least once. +khRAIN has decided to join us with a movie review Howl's Moving CastleGenre: Adventure, Fantasy, Family, Romance
Age Certification: PG Director: Hayao Miyazaki Writer: Based on Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones Notable Actors: Chieko Basho, Takuya Kimura (Japanese voices); Emily Mortimer, Christian Bale (English voices) Release: 11/20/2004 (Japan) Plot Outline: Sophie, a self-conscious girl working as a hat-maker, unwittingly attracts the attention of the handsome wizard Howl, which also attracts the wrath of a jealous witch. After a curse transforms her into a 90 year-old woman, Sophie must go on an adventure to find a way to reverse the spell. Review Acting: 7/10. Although I had not previously known of Emily Mortimer, I enjoyed her charming interpretation of young Sophie. I also loved the voice for her counter-part, old Sophie, played by Jean Simmons. Simmons did an amazing job of incorporating the confusion and sass of young Sophie with the newly-gained wisdom of her older self. (I have not watched the Japanese dub, therefore I cannot review it.) Writing: 8/10 Miyazaki chose to change many aspects of Jones's novel in order to give Howl's Moving Castle a Ghibli-esque feel. However, any holes or confusion that resulted from a slightly complicated plot is quickly blown away by the spell-bounding overall story and the dynamic characters whom viewers will quickly fall in love with. Soundtrack: 10/10 It's Joe Hisaishi (a long-time partner of Miyazaki) at his finest. Featuring a beautiful soundtrack with songs such as "Merry-Go Round of Life" and "Cave of Mind", the music will leave you feeling eerie or elated at all the right moments. It wonderfully enhances the scenes. Visuals: 10/10 Exactly the top-notch animation quality that you would expect from Miyazaki and Ghibli. The animation is mostly hand-painted while using a touch of computer-animation to enhance it. Miyazaki can create truly breath-taking settings and graphics with this technique. "Feels": 9/10 I was completely engrossed in the story. The relationship between Howl (a handsome, but whiny, guy) and Sophie (a hard-working girl who is a tad insecure) is very believable and they're able to take great steps to change before the ending. Although I disliked Howl at first, I found myself rooting for both of them through thick and thin! Personal Experience: I was a great Ghibli and Miyazaki fan before watching Howl's Moving Castle (I have also watched titles such as Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke) and this movie definitely did not disappoint. Miyazaki's animation combined with Joe Hisaishi's music score created a beautiful story that made me want to watch it again after the first time. Overall Rating: 9/10 Would you recommend it? YES YES YES! “But it is the nature of stars to cross, and never was Shakespeare more wrong than when he has Cassius note, ‘The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars / But in ourselves.”
Factor is back and this time he's reviewing The Fault In Our Stars, the new film adaptation of the outrageously popular young-adult tearjerker/romance novel of the same name. The Fault In Our Stars Genre: Drama, Romance Age Certification: PG-13 Director: Josh Boone Writers: Scott Neustadter, Michael H. Weber, John Green (author of the book) Notable Actors: Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort, Nat Wolff Release Date: June 6 2014 Synopsis: Hazel and Gus are two teenagers who share an acerbic wit, a disdain for the conventional, and a love that sweeps them on a journey. Their relationship is all the more miraculous given that Hazel's other constant companion is an oxygen tank, Gus jokes about his prosthetic leg, and they met and fell in love at a cancer support group. Review Acting: 10/10 I really enjoyed the acting and the characters felt very alive, different, and overall just enjoyable in every sense. Writing: 10/10 I felt that the writing was very interesting and was a helpful guide for understanding the characters entirely. Some of the lines in this movie really took me away and got me so interested in the movie. Sound and Music: 5/10 There's not much of a soundtrack in this movie that catches my eye and the fact it's pretty limited to begin with. Not much here. Visuals: 8/10 As a romantic film I can say that the visuals made were very well made and added a huge effect on some of the more dramatic scenes in the movie. "Feels": 10/10 If I could rate this higher I would. The movie delivered when it got tense and when it got emotional and when it got straight up sad. All I can say is this when you are trying to make a romantic movie, look at this one for the emotional parts. Would I recommend it? I would totally recommend it to any romance movie seeker. This movie shows what true love really is and not many romance movies can do this, this movie is obviously one of a kind. Overall Rating: 8/10 An example of true love!
