#Limbo HenGoku with yet another film review on Disneys Big Hero 6 BIG HERO 6Genre: Animation, Action, Adventure Age certification: Rated PG Directer(s): Don Hall, Chris Williams Writer(s): Jordan Robert, Daniel Gerson, Robert L. Baird Notable Actor(s): Ryan Potter, Scott Adsit, Jamie Chung Release Information: 7 November 2014, english Plot outline: The special bond that develops between plus-sized inflatable robot Baymax, and prodigy Hiro Hamada, who team up with a group of friends to form a band of high-tech heroes. Review Acting 10/10: The voice acting in this movie was fantastic and they really fit each character really well. Sounded really believable. Writing 8/10: The story of the movie is very intriguing and the characters are introduced. Though the characters don't really have a lot of development. I felt like they were just thrown in there. This movie does has some pacing issues which shouldn't happen for a 1 1/2 hour movie but quickly picks up. Soundtrack 8/10: The soundtrack in the movie was pretty good. It fit each scene pretty nicely and even influenced the moments positively. Some of them I did not really like. The sound effects were good, too. Visuals 10/10: The visuals for the movie is very good. Almost to the point of looking real at some parts. Feels 10/10: I really connected with the character Hero because I've experienced some of the things he went through in the movie. As a whole this movie was touching Personal Experiences What I love about this movie is that they made science awesome before the adventure even began. I like science so it was really intriguing to see. I thought the film was a really fun time, the world looked awesome, and the characters are really likable. Also thought the villain was pretty cool, too Overall Rating 8/10 Would I recommend it? If you have family, you could sit down and watch it together. Everyone will be entertained, I guarantee it. Hi, #Limbo HenGoku here. I'm here to give you my first experience on a Bollywood movie Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in IndiaGenre: Adventure, Drama, Musical
Age certification: PG Directer: Ashutosh Gowariker Writers: Ashutosh Gowariker Notable actors: Aamir Khan, Gracy Singh, Rachel Shelley Release information: 8 May 2002 (USA) Plot outline: The people of a small village in Victorian India stake their future on a game of cricket against their ruthless British rulers... Review Acting 8/10: I thought the acting in this movie was pretty good. Aamir Khan did his role perfectly as Bhuvan in the film. The reast were pretty decent but times I just could not buy the acting. Writing 9/10: I thought the writting in the movie was pretty good. Film at time felt like it was dragging on though. There aren't really any unnecessary scenes in the movie either. Soundtrack 10/10: The music in the movie is so catchy, I can't help but tap my feet to it when it plays. The soundtrack was very enjoyable. Visuals 6/10: Movie was pretty much dailogue heavy so visuals didn't have much to offer. Although, I thought everything looked awesome in the movie. Feels 8/10: The feels in this movie was pretty great. I didn't really relate to any of the characters in the movie. I did however was rooting for them in the movie. I could help but root for them to succeed and in the end when they do suceed, you'd feel very happy for them. Personal experiences: Not gonna lie, when I saw that this movie was close to four hours long, I was kind of on the fence about it. But now I don't regret watching it all. close to 4 hours of constant intrigue. The movie is only long because of the soundtrack but I didn't even need to skip them because I thought it was so well done and fun to watch. This is the first bolywood film I had ever seen and it really got me. Overall Rating 8/10 Would i recommend it? Yes, I will recommend this movie to anyone who are interested in venturing in bolywood for the first time. nearly 4 hours of constant intrigue, won't disappoint TTPK Tal reviews one of his all-time favourites, the highly successful and critically acclaimed The Dark Knight. The Dark KnightMovie: The Dark Knight
Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama, Thriller Director: Christopher Nolan Age Certification: PG-13 Writers: Jonathan Nolan, Christopher Nolan, David S. Goyer Notable Actors: Heath Ledger, Chrisitian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Aaron Eckhart Release: 2008 (Various), English Plot Outline: The Dark Knight shows how the Batman's presence in Gotham City has also allowed for the rise of criminals such as the Joker and the clash of their different mentalities. REVIEW Acting: 10/10 Even though Christian Bale's Batman is one of the worst, he is, in my opinion, the best Bruce Wayne ever, supplemented with strong performances by Michael Caine as Alfred, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox and outstanding ones by Gary Oldman and Aaron Eckhart. But it's time to get to the real star, Heath Ledger. He is the best Joker to exist on screen, with one of the finest performances on film ever. He sold his role as The Joker and this can be terrifyingly real for some people. Writing: 10/10 The script was brilliant for a dark superhero movie. The story was great, thrilling and had The Batman in ruins at times, offering great action, great plot progression and adequate pacing. The Nolan brothers' screenplay along with Nolan's and Goyer's adaptation of the comic book story is very well done. The Dark Knight does have some minor flaws like the opening scene and the hospital scene being forgotten quickly. Directing: 10/10 Nolan is a unique director, but he has things he always does like the disjointed story telling. Here, however, it fully works. Every time I rewatch, I see something new in the movie that I haven't seen before. Nolan directed The Dark Knight amazingly. Soundtrack: 8/10 The sound assets are great, but the soundtrack for the motion picture isn't particularly noteworthy. While not being bad, it's not great either and it's not something I'd go and listen to in my free time. Visuals: 10/10 The action is amazing, thrilling, constantly moving, perfectly paced and looks amazing. The disturbingly high budget helped alot with that. "Feels": 10/10 **MINOR PLOT SPOILERS** In The Dark Knight, you really feel the mental issues that both the main characters, villains and the characters to become villains are all really relatable with their own tragedies and character development. I can even relate to the Joker. Personal experience: The Dark Knight is my 10th favorite film. While I do see its flaws, like the bullshit ending, it still is an amazing movie you can watch solely for Heath Ledger's performance as The Joker. Seeing this movie and counting 16 times, not getting sick of even a single moment really means it's great for rewatching. Overall rating: The Dark Knight gets a 10/10. Would I recommend to others: Very much so. Captain Amurica with yet another move review Toy Story 3Genre: Animated, Adventure, Comedy
Age Certification: G Director: Lee Unkrich Writers: Lee Unkrich, Andrew Stanton, John Lasseter Notable Actors: Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Ned Beatty, Don Rickles, Michael Keaton, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenburger, Blake Clark, Estelle Harris, Jodi Benson, John Morris Release: 6/18/10, English Plot Outline: Andy is now 17 years old and hasn't played with his toys in several years. Now, as he's leaving for college, Woody, Buzz, Jessie and the rest are uncertain about their future. REVIEW Acting: 10/10 The original cast of the first two films reprised their roles, which is great because who didn't see Toy Story as a kid and it felt like a true sequel instead of a reboot. The new actors also were great in their new roles, such as Lotso and Ken. Writing: 10/10 The script was written brilliantly for a sequel that is 11 years late. The story was great and was enjoyable to the very end and all the charm from the first two films was, amazingly, still here. Soundtrack: 9/10 The soundtrack in Toy Story 3 is amazing. When the scene is dramatic, so is the music and when it's calm, so is the music. It fit with the scenes very nicely and was just a pleasure to listen to. "Feels": 10/10 **MAJOR PLOT SPOILERS** Toy Story 3 is very childish, as expected, but there are some surprisingly dark scenes such as the scene where they almost got burnt in the furnace or when Lotso was interrogating Buzz. It just felt really well paced and the feels were real. Personal Experience: As someone who grew up watching the Toy Story films and Pixar in general, this movie had all the charm, wit, and personality that made the first two so enjoyable. This is one of the better Pixar movies to have come out in the last 5 years and is DEFINITELY worth watching. Overall Rating: 10/10 Captain Amurica Brings us another movie review Wreck-It RalphGenre: Animated, Adventure, Comedy
Age Certification: PG Director: Rich Moore Writers: Jennifer Lee, Phil Johnston Notable actors: John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch Release: 11/2/13, English Plot Outline: After the 30th anniversary of his game, Wreck-It Ralph, the antagonist of retro arcade game Fix-It Felix Jr, starts to dislike being a bad guy and tries to change his life. Review Acting: 9/10 I feel like the voices of all the characters were done well and fit with their personality nicely. Writing: 9/10 The script was fantastic, with a surprisingly enjoyable story. It shows that Wreck-it-Ralph is more than just a love letter to gamers. Soundtrack: 8/10 The music in Wreck-it-Ralph is really fitting and there were a bunch of good tracks, some of which were themed around a retro video game, which was a nice addition. Visuals: 9/10 The animation is really nice. It's colourful and cartoony and it's a pleasure to look at. "Feels": 10/10 Wreck-it-Ralph has surprisingly dark moments which contributed to the overall feels of the movie and I really felt bad for Ralph and Vanellope. Personal Experience: When Wreck-it-Ralph first aired, I was starting to grow out of Disney movies because I didn't enjoy Brave and Cars 2 as much as the others, so I was skeptical going into it, but as a gamer and a fan of movies in general I really liked it and it's better than Brave, Cars 2, and Monsters University. Still, it can't hold up to the best of Disney (That would be The Lion King). Overall Rating: 9/10 Would I recommend it? I would recommend it to anyone who's a fan of animated movies, Disney movies, and to people who play video games because it's more than just a love letter to gamers but it's a well written movie with heart, humour, and a really good story that can appeal to all ages. +khRAIN has decided to join us with a movie review Howl's Moving CastleGenre: Adventure, Fantasy, Family, Romance
Age Certification: PG Director: Hayao Miyazaki Writer: Based on Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones Notable Actors: Chieko Basho, Takuya Kimura (Japanese voices); Emily Mortimer, Christian Bale (English voices) Release: 11/20/2004 (Japan) Plot Outline: Sophie, a self-conscious girl working as a hat-maker, unwittingly attracts the attention of the handsome wizard Howl, which also attracts the wrath of a jealous witch. After a curse transforms her into a 90 year-old woman, Sophie must go on an adventure to find a way to reverse the spell. Review Acting: 7/10. Although I had not previously known of Emily Mortimer, I enjoyed her charming interpretation of young Sophie. I also loved the voice for her counter-part, old Sophie, played by Jean Simmons. Simmons did an amazing job of incorporating the confusion and sass of young Sophie with the newly-gained wisdom of her older self. (I have not watched the Japanese dub, therefore I cannot review it.) Writing: 8/10 Miyazaki chose to change many aspects of Jones's novel in order to give Howl's Moving Castle a Ghibli-esque feel. However, any holes or confusion that resulted from a slightly complicated plot is quickly blown away by the spell-bounding overall story and the dynamic characters whom viewers will quickly fall in love with. Soundtrack: 10/10 It's Joe Hisaishi (a long-time partner of Miyazaki) at his finest. Featuring a beautiful soundtrack with songs such as "Merry-Go Round of Life" and "Cave of Mind", the music will leave you feeling eerie or elated at all the right moments. It wonderfully enhances the scenes. Visuals: 10/10 Exactly the top-notch animation quality that you would expect from Miyazaki and Ghibli. The animation is mostly hand-painted while using a touch of computer-animation to enhance it. Miyazaki can create truly breath-taking settings and graphics with this technique. "Feels": 9/10 I was completely engrossed in the story. The relationship between Howl (a handsome, but whiny, guy) and Sophie (a hard-working girl who is a tad insecure) is very believable and they're able to take great steps to change before the ending. Although I disliked Howl at first, I found myself rooting for both of them through thick and thin! Personal Experience: I was a great Ghibli and Miyazaki fan before watching Howl's Moving Castle (I have also watched titles such as Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke) and this movie definitely did not disappoint. Miyazaki's animation combined with Joe Hisaishi's music score created a beautiful story that made me want to watch it again after the first time. Overall Rating: 9/10 Would you recommend it? YES YES YES! From a special survival trip returns our very own %Limbo Hengoku to tell us about the movie After Earth.
After Earth Genre: Action, Adventure, Sci-fi Age Certification: PG-13 Director: M. Night Shyamalan Writers: Will Smith Notable Actors: Will Smith, Jaden Smith Release: 5/31/2013, English Plot Outline: A crash landing leaves Kitai Raige and his father Cypher stranded on Earth, a millennium after events forced humanity's escape. With Cypher injured, Kitai must embark on a perilous journey to signal for help. Review Acting: 5/10 The acting was was okay and fairly believable. Will Smith did fairly decent in this movie but he was boring to watch. Jaden Smith, in comparison, was les enjoyable. His acting was subpar and wasn't really believable to me, but he did have some good moments. Writing: 2.5/10 The story is interesting, but the execution of it was horrid. The characters are not introduced properly and there is no character development at all. The characters were just boring and the plot was really slow. Some things just didn't make sense. There are some conflicting messages and some unnecessary scenes. Sound/Music: 5/10 I didn't really like the soundtrack, but it did fit most scenes appropriately, yet failed to influence the moments positively. The sound effects were average. Visuals: 7/10 The visuals were okay but didn't really add to overall experience. However, it did have some good shots of the characters and scenery. The predators did look kind of cool, too. Additionally, the special effects were decent. "Feels": 3/10 I did not get emtionally invested at all. I didn't bond with any of the characters either. I was, however, rooting for the protagonists' father-son-bond, but that's about it. If you're looking for a movie with feels, then After Earth isn't for you. Personal Experiences: I honestly did not like After Earth at all. There's just something at the end of it I can't get over. The fact that Will Smith stands up and his first reaction is to salute his kid like a soldier shows me that their father-son-bond (the thing that you're supposed to be rooting for the entire time) hasn't been growing at all. Will Smith saluting his son just shows me that he respects him as a soldier and that's it. I thought I was supposed to root for their father-son-bond and I was supposed to watch that grow. I like a good survival movie as much as the next guy but in the end, the only survival scenario was sitting through the entire movie. Overall Rating: 4/10 Would I recommend it? No, I wouldn't recommend this movie. Do yourself a favor and skip After Earth, it's just boring. The serial reviewist strikes again. This time, %Limbo Hengoku reviews the latest installment of the monster movie Godzilla.
Godzilla Genre: Action, Adventure, Thriller, Sci-Fi, Fantasy Age Certification: PG-13 Director: Gareth Edwards Writer: David Callaham, Based on Godzilla by Toho Notable Actors: Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins, David Strathairn, Bryan Cranston Release: 5/16/2014, English Plot Outline: The world's most famous monster is pitted against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence. Review Acting: 8/10 The acting was good and believable. Bryan Cranston did a really good job. Everyone else did a good job, too, but at times the acting didn't look believable. Aside from that, the acting was awesome. Writing: 8/10 The story is intriguing and the characters are introduced properly. There is good character development as well. There are some minor plot holes but they could honestly be overlooked. Sound/Music: 8/10 I thought the soundtrack in Godzilla was okay and it fit each scene perfectly. In addition, the sound effects were great. They were used to correctly accentuate each scene. Visuals: 10/10 The visuals for Godzilla are aswesome and there were really great shots of the characters and scenery. The monsters looked really real too. The cinematography was outstanding, too. "Feels": 7/10 I did get emotionally invested because there are some emotional moments in this movie. I really felt for Bryan Cranston's character because of what happened in the first 15 minutes. I actually felt attached to him. I did kind of bond with Aaron Taylor-Johnson's character but not as much as Bryan's character because he is a bit emotionally distant. Godzilla as a whole was very suspenseful and exciting. Personal Experiences: I actually enjoyed Godzilla a lot. What I loved most about it is that I knew nothing about it. It's really cool going into a movie that is shrouded in secrecy so that you don't know what you're in for. Another thing I liked about it is that it didn't really focus on the monsters but on the humans trying to live in a world with monsters. Godzilla did a really good job of making me feel like I am in a world were Godzilla exists and monsters are destroying civilization as we know it. Furthermore, I loved the characters in this movie. The only thing I hoped for when watching Godzilla was to see more of the monsters fighting. But when they did fight, cool but not as cool as, say, Pacific Rim. It was more realistic than that though, that's for sure. Aside from that, I enjoyed Godzilla a bunch. Overall Rating: 8/10 Would I recommend it? Yes I would recommend it because it's actually pretty good. Give it a shot, it's worth it. Michael Bay produces almost as many Transformers movies as %Limbo Hengoku produces movie reviews. Let's see if Bay's newest creation can hold up to the criticism of TVBF's serial reviewist.
Transformers: Age of Extinction Genre: Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi Age Certification: PG-13 Director: Michael Bay Writer: Ehren Kruger, based on Transformers by Hasbro Notable Actors: Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci Release: 6/27/2014, English Plot Outline: A mechanic and his family join the Autobots as they are targeted by a bounty hunter from another world. Review Acting: 3/10 The acting was bad and most of the time not believable. Stanley Tucci had a couple of good parts, but in the end, he was wasted. Writing: 2/10 The story wasn't interesting and the characters were not introduced properly. They were bad and not likable and didn't really develop well either. There are so many unnecessary scenes that I've lost count. Sound/Music: 5/10 The soundtrack for Transformers: Age of Extinction was average but, to me, it didn't really influence the moments in a positive way. It did, however, fit the moments right. Visuals: 3/10 The visuals in Transformers: Age of Extinction were, surprisingly, not great. The special effects were garbage and they looked worse than in any of the other Transformers movies. The transformations looked sketchy and even the CGI looked like crap. Some parts you would think were a screensaver. "Feels": 1/10 I did not get emotionally invested at all. I didn't care for the robots or humans at all. If you're looking for a movie with good feels, this movie isn't for you. Personal Experiences: Honest to god I wanted to like this movie, but in the end, I ended up hating it. One of the things I was looking forward to were the dino bots but I didn't get that. Another thing that annoyed me were the constant explosions. You'd be surprised at how bored you get watching things blow up all the time. I think that's Micheal Bays mission, to see how bored people can get watching things blow up all the time. Transformers: Age of Extinction concentrated too much on the human characters, but they were boring and I didn't care about them. Even the Autobots were boring. In addition, there was that stupid, garbage Michael Bay humour that I'm sick of at this point. Overall Rating: 3/10 Would I recommend it? No I would not recommend this monstrosity. But if you like hollow characters on top of more hollow characters and special effects that are not as good as in the previous movies, as well as lots of explosions, you'll like it. But if you need anything more than that, you're gonna hate it. Do yourself a favor and skip this movie.
