#Limbo HenGoku is back with his take on a bluford series book SECRETS IN THE SHADOWSShelves: Drama, Realistic-Fiction, Romance
Age Range: Young Adult Author(s): Anne Schraff, Paul Langan Series: The Bluford Series Published: December 1st 2001, English Pages: 126 Synposis: This book focuses on Roylin Bailey, a Bluford sophomore who appears in A Matter of Trust. Roylin makes a terrible mistake: He steals money to buy a gift for the girl of his dreams and finds himself in a nightmare he cannot escape. Review Plot 10/10: I thought the plot of the book was very well contructed, engaging, and enjoyable pverall. There isn't anything left out in the book. All elements that this book had were skilfully brought together for a satisfying conclusion. Pacing 9/10: Story overall was not too fast and not too slow. It did at a point slow down a bit but then quickly picks up. I was engaged throughout the entire book, not wanting to put it down. Characters 10/10: The characters in this book are very likable and believable. Like the way they react to things is the same way people would react in real life. I did feel sympathy towards the main character though. I was very engaged with them and could not help but root for them to get out of what they're in and achieve what they wanted to achieve. They're all full developed. Writing 10/10: This book was really well written. There weren't really any grammar errors or sentences that ran too long. The sentences were long enough in fact. Wasn't too descriptive either. I found nothing wrong with the writting for this book Feels 10/10: I actually felt for the characters in the book. I felt bad for the situation they were in and wanted them to get out. I could relate to the characters in the book and what happened to them. Personal experiences: This book is one of my most favorite books of all time. Things that happen in this book really happens in real life. The only problem I had with this book was when it ended.... as in when I hit the final page of it. This book was intriguing, relatable, and the characters were likable for what they were. I honestly can't find any negatives about this book. Overall rating: 9.5/10 READ IT! Would I recommend this book? I recommend this book to everyone because I feel like everyone should read it at least once. A7xDrumCovers has decided to join us with his take on film GLOBAL METALGenre: Documentary, Music
Age Rating: 14A Directors: Scot McFadyen, Sam Dunn Writers: Scot McFadyen, Sam Dunn Notable Appearances: Sam Dunn, Lars Ulrich (Metallica), Tom Araya (Slayer), Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden) Release Information: October 17, 2007 (Bergen International Film Festival); 20 June, 2008 Plot/Goal: Sam Dunn has recieved multiple notes from fans across the world for his previous movie, Metal: A Headbanger's Journey (2005), and has inspired him to travel around the world to learn about metal cultures outside of North America. While doing this, he meets up with metal bands who originated from these countries, as well as American bands with stories related to such countries, to learn about the struggle and shocking details about being a band, or a fan, in a foreign country. Review Interviews + Narration (Acting + Writing) 10/10 - As with most documentaries, one of the most important pieces of making a inspiring story is to have good speakers, and being a good speaker yourself. Sam Dunn is the narrator and star of the film, as well as writer and even director, and he takes this position very well with the emphasis and pleasant descriptions we hope to hear in a movie to keep it from being stale. Metal artists being interviewed, as well as fans, describe their countries and compare America to them, in such a way that could be agreed with in a similar manor to anyone watching wether a Metal fan or not, but keeps it sensibly appealing to the main demographic of Metal-heads. Soundtrack 8/10 - In general, the soundtrack could appeal to just about anyone who listens to any Metal subgenre, but as for people who do not listen to Metal, this might not work for you. Since this movie is directed to Metal fans anyways, this should be much of an issue. However, some of the music used in this film is even too heavy for my tastes, especially considering my WIDE array of Metal enthusiasm. Regardless, its easy to respect it and simply let it pass as you continue to focus on the interviews themselves. Visuals 9/10 - Something that caught my eye a lot better than most other documentaries was the lack of visual statistics, and more theorizing and discussion of the flow of music in each country. Visually, you understand what people are going through in these countries on a daily basis, you understand the life they have to live, you see what they risk just to be a metal fan, even if it is against the cultural norm. This kind of visual treating is shown particularly in the India segment of the movie. Without spoiling anything, if you happen to see the movie, have a good look yourself to see what I mean. Feels 10/10 - Regardless of what kind of person you are, it is very easy to become attached to the fans in particular, and the lifestyle they describe in every country. The pain they go through and the issues they take on, as well as the social outcasting, makes you feel emotion for these people, and makes you feel lucky in comparison. Not to give the audience a total guilt trip, however, as many of these people stand for their country and hope to make the name of such countries high ranking in the metal-scene. Its a powerful message, really. Personal Experiences - I found the Japanese, Indian, and Indonesian segments the most interesting because of the stories the fans and bands discuss at these moments. I felt that their stories were the most interesting, without becoming too controversial. I am not one to be interested in Religious issues which are highly covered in Isreal and Dubai, however your mileague may vary. Overall Rating - 9.5/10 Would I recommend this movie? Absolutely, especially to anyone who is familiar with Metal or interested in anthropology. The movie has a message to take for anyone though, even if you dont listen to Metal. Its certainly a one-of-a-kind treat to see different countries' normality compared in this way, and it feels rather perfect for someone who has always wondered how a band from overseas could've gotten big enough to be known globally. Please go see this movie if you havent already, it is one of the best and most unique documentaries I've ever seen. #Limbo HenGoku with yet another film review on Disneys Big Hero 6 BIG HERO 6Genre: Animation, Action, Adventure Age certification: Rated PG Directer(s): Don Hall, Chris Williams Writer(s): Jordan Robert, Daniel Gerson, Robert L. Writing 8/10: The story of the movie is very intriguing and the characters are introduced. Though the characters don't really have a lot of development. I felt like they were just thrown in there. This movie does has some pacing issues which shouldn't happen for a 1 1/2 hour movie but quickly picks up. Soundtrack 8/10: The soundtrack in the movie was pretty good. It fit each scene pretty nicely and even influenced the moments positively. Some of them I did not really like. The sound effects were good, too. Review Acting 7/10: The actinf in the movie was pretty great. I liked the chemistry James Franco and Seth Rogan had in this film, I felt like they both fit their roles perfectly. Although I felt like some could have done better in the movie. But they all made their characters likable for what they were, so that's good. Writing 7/10: The story of this movie is interesting and the characters are introduced. I thought the jokes in the movie were really funny but then it started getting repetitive. Also, the film slows down at ibe point, too, but then picks back up. There are no unnecessary scenes. It also fit each scene perfectly and even made the comedic moments even funnier Visuals 9/10: Visuals were pretty good and it added to overall experience Feels 7/10: In a way, I liked the friendship James Franco's and Randall ParK's characters had. I thought it was pretty touching. I didn't really bond with the characters either. Movie is very funny thouh. Personal Experiences: I honestly could not help but look forward to the movie. One of things I liked about the movie is the chemistry between James Franco and Seth Rogan because of the contrast between the two. I can't really think of any negatives about the movie aside from the repetitive jokes. This movie was raunchy and very hysterical. I didn't really need to happen but I'm glad it did. In the end, I thought it was pretty decent. Overall Rating 7/10 Decent Would I recommend it? All I can say is know what you're getting into. BREAKING BAD#Limbo HenGoku with a review on the well known series Breaking Bad Genre: Crime, Drama, Thriller Age certification: Rated R Directer: Vince Gilligan Writer(s): Vince Gilligan Notable actor(s): Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, RJ Mitte, Anna Gunn Release Information: January 20, 2008 - September 29, 2013, English Plot Outline: A chemistry teacher diagnosed with a terminal lung cancer, teams up with his former student, Jesse Pinkman, to cook and sell crystal meth Review Acting 10/10: The acting in this movie is probably one of the best acting I have ever seen. Bryan Cranston kills it as Walter White. There's a reason why he won an emmy for each season. Aaron Paul also did a good job in the show. Everyone in this show brought their A game. The acting was very believable and made the characters likable for what they were and made them hateble for what they were. Writing 10/10: I thought the writing in the movie was flawless as well. The story is very intriguing and the characters are introduced. There is some very good character development in this show as well. I would say that there was one unnecessary episode but even it was enjoyable to watch. The dailog is very good, too. Soundtrack 10/10: I thought the soundtrack in the movie was pretty good and that it fit each scene perfectly. I don't remember much being played but I know I liked it a lot. The things he was going through, the amount of loses he had was just sad to me. Personal Experiences: This a really good show. First of all, I like how they show the main characters decline to villainy, I thought they did that really well. My favorite character throughout the entire show is Jessie Pinkman. I thought he was pretty badass. You know how some shows had bad seasons? Not this one. This show literally gets better and darker each season. There are no bad seasons what so ever. There is absolutely nothing I did not like about this show. Overall Rating 10/10 Amazing Would I recommend it? Of course I would recommend one of the best dramas ever made. If you have not seen this show, what're you doing? WHIPLASH #Limbo HenGoku is back with yet another movie review Genre: Drama, Music

Review Acting 8/10: I thought the acting in this movie was pretty good. Aamir Khan did his role perfectly as Bhuvan in the film. The reast were pretty decent but times I just could not buy the acting. Writing 9/10: I thought the writting in the movie was pretty good. Film at time felt like it was dragging on though. There aren't really any unnecessary scenes in the movie either. Soundtrack 10/10: The music in the movie is so catchy, I can't help but tap my feet to it when it plays. The soundtrack was very enjoyable. Visuals 6/10: Movie was pretty much dailogue heavy so visuals didn't have much to offer. Although, I thought everything looked awesome in the movie. Personal experiences: Not gonna lie, when I saw that this movie was close to four hours long, I was kind of on the fence about it. The movie is only long because of the soundtrack but I didn't even need to skip them because I thought it was so well done and fun to watch. This is the first bolywood film I had ever seen and it really got me. Overall Rating 8/10 Would i recommend it? Yes, I will recommend this movie to anyone who are interested in venturing in bolywood for the first time. nearly 4 hours of constant intrigue, won't disappoint ss1234 reviews a book that is hugely popular and has finally been freed from the curse of gillmore girls.
THE MAZE RUNNER Book: The Maze Runner Genre: Action, Mystery, Adventure Author: James Dashner Age range: Young Adult Pages: 374 Synopsis: “If you ain’t scared, you ain’t human.” When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his name. He’s surrounded by strangers—boys whose memories are also gone. “Nice to meet ya, shank. Welcome to the Glade.” Outside the towering stone walls that surround the Glade is a limitless, ever-changing maze. It’s the only way out—and no one’s ever made it through alive. “Everything is going to change.” Then a girl arrives. The first girl ever. And the message she delivers is terrifying. Remember. Survive. Run. Review Plot: I thought the plot was very well made, as this was only the first in the series questions were left answers so at the end of the book you are itching to find out more on the secrets. The plot was engaging and throughout the book I couldn’t stop reading. Overall I found the plot engaging and full, I couldn’t stop reading it. (9.5/10) Pace: The Maze Runner goes at a steady pace until the last third of the book, it speeds up quite a bit in the last third. I think that the story goes too fast in the last third but the rest goes at a very good pace. I don’t think the speed in the end does justice to the book and if it had gone slower I would have enjoyed the end more. The sped up bit was full of action however so I didn’t feel as it got boring. (8/10) Characters: I thought the characters were very well thought out with every detail. They all had their own unique traits and we immediately felt pity for the main character ‘Thomas’ and we identified ‘Gally’ as a kind of enemy. Each character had a part in the plot, everyone had something to do with the plot(9/10) Writing: The writing in ‘The maze runner’ is quite unique in the sense that the gladers have their own language. It is very easy to understand and incorporates a lot of slang in the language. Some stuff could be a little more descriptive however. (8.5/10) Word-building: I found that some places lacked description however it was enough for you to imagine the scene in your head. The locations in the book, I thought were very well created and I enjoyed reading about them. (9/10) "Feels": The story made me feel as if i was in the story, I always wanted to know what would happen to the characters next. I also felt for certain characters, for example I wanted newt to succeed while gally didn’t give me the best vibe. (9/10) Personal Experience: Ever since I read the Maze Runner, I have always been looking forward to reading the later books in the series, so far I have read book 2 as well but have been looking forward to reading book 3 a lot. As this is a dystopia it always makes you think about how the world would turn out in later years so I did. I really liked this book and I think it was mainly because I like this kind of genre so if you like these kind of genres I really recommend giving it a try Overall Rating: 9/10 Would definitely recommend this book to others. BATMAN BEGINS Movie: Batman Begins Genre: Action Age Certification: PG-13 Director: Christopher Nolan Writers: Based on the DC Comics character Batman Notable actors: Christian Bale,Michael Caine,Liam Neeson,Katie Holmes,Gary Oldman,Cillian Murphy,Tom Wilkinson,Rutger Hauer,Ken Wannabe, and Morgan Freeman Release: June 15, 2005(USA),June 10, 2005(Russia), and June 16, 2005(UK) Plot Outline: The story follows Bruce Wayne and his backstory and builds up to his destiny to become Batman REVIEW Acting: 10/10 I absolutely loved the acting in this movie and it felt like everyone was cast perfectly. Especially Christian Bale as Batman. Everyone just did their part very well. Writing: 10/10 I thought the script and the story was brilliantly written. It follows a darker tone than most superhero movies but Batman is a really dark character so the tone fit really well. There was also some good character development which was awesome. Sounds/Music: 9/10 I loved the soundtrack to this movie. Every background song felt just right for the scene. Visuals: 9/10 For a movie that's 10 years old it still looks great. It has aged really well and it's just amazing. "Feels": 10/10 [MINOR PLOT SPOILERS] Batman as a character has a lot of these kinds of moments and this movie replicates that. From his parents dying to his initial fear of bats, this movie does a lot of these dark moments perfectly and I really felt bad for him at times. Personal experience: I had this movie for years but I never watched it. I finally decided to do so after getting the Dark Knight movies for Christmas and this movie blew me away. I didn't know what to expect but whatever it was, it blew my expectations out of the water. This movie is an absolute masterpiece for it's brilliant acting, great script, engaging plot, and more. Overall rating: 9.5/10 Would I recommend this movie to others? Heck yeah I would. I didn't hate anything about this movie. You should DEFINITELY watch it. TTPK Tal reviews one of his all-time favourites, the highly successful and critically acclaimed The Dark Knight. The Dark KnightMovie: The Dark Knight
Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama, Thriller Director: Christopher Nolan Age Certification: PG-13 Writers: Jonathan Nolan, Christopher Nolan, David S. Goyer Notable Actors: Heath Ledger, Chrisitian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Aaron Eckhart Release: 2008 (Various), English Plot Outline: The Dark Knight shows how the Batman's presence in Gotham City has also allowed for the rise of criminals such as the Joker and the clash of their different mentalities. REVIEW Acting: 10/10 Even though Christian Bale's Batman is one of the worst, he is, in my opinion, the best Bruce Wayne ever, supplemented with strong performances by Michael Caine as Alfred, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox and outstanding ones by Gary Oldman and Aaron Eckhart. But it's time to get to the real star, Heath Ledger. He is the best Joker to exist on screen, with one of the finest performances on film ever. He sold his role as The Joker and this can be terrifyingly real for some people. Writing: 10/10 The script was brilliant for a dark superhero movie. The story was great, thrilling and had The Batman in ruins at times, offering great action, great plot progression and adequate pacing. The Nolan brothers' screenplay along with Nolan's and Goyer's adaptation of the comic book story is very well done. The Dark Knight does have some minor flaws like the opening scene and the hospital scene being forgotten quickly. Directing: 10/10 Nolan is a unique director, but he has things he always does like the disjointed story telling. Here, however, it fully works. Every time I rewatch, I see something new in the movie that I haven't seen before. Nolan directed The Dark Knight amazingly. Soundtrack: 8/10 The sound assets are great, but the soundtrack for the motion picture isn't particularly noteworthy. While not being bad, it's not great either and it's not something I'd go and listen to in my free time. Visuals: 10/10 The action is amazing, thrilling, constantly moving, perfectly paced and looks amazing. The disturbingly high budget helped alot with that. "Feels": 10/10 **MINOR PLOT SPOILERS** In The Dark Knight, you really feel the mental issues that both the main characters, villains and the characters to become villains are all really relatable with their own tragedies and character development. I can even relate to the Joker. Personal experience: The Dark Knight is my 10th favorite film. While I do see its flaws, like the bullshit ending, it still is an amazing movie you can watch solely for Heath Ledger's performance as The Joker. Seeing this movie and counting 16 times, not getting sick of even a single moment really means it's great for rewatching. Overall rating: The Dark Knight gets a 10/10. Would I recommend to others: Very much so. |
