Captain Amurica Brings us another movie review Wreck-It RalphGenre: Animated, Adventure, Comedy
Age Certification: PG Director: Rich Moore Writers: Jennifer Lee, Phil Johnston Notable actors: John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch Release: 11/2/13, English Plot Outline: After the 30th anniversary of his game, Wreck-It Ralph, the antagonist of retro arcade game Fix-It Felix Jr, starts to dislike being a bad guy and tries to change his life. Review Acting: 9/10 I feel like the voices of all the characters were done well and fit with their personality nicely. Writing: 9/10 The script was fantastic, with a surprisingly enjoyable story. It shows that Wreck-it-Ralph is more than just a love letter to gamers. Soundtrack: 8/10 The music in Wreck-it-Ralph is really fitting and there were a bunch of good tracks, some of which were themed around a retro video game, which was a nice addition. Visuals: 9/10 The animation is really nice. It's colourful and cartoony and it's a pleasure to look at. "Feels": 10/10 Wreck-it-Ralph has surprisingly dark moments which contributed to the overall feels of the movie and I really felt bad for Ralph and Vanellope. Personal Experience: When Wreck-it-Ralph first aired, I was starting to grow out of Disney movies because I didn't enjoy Brave and Cars 2 as much as the others, so I was skeptical going into it, but as a gamer and a fan of movies in general I really liked it and it's better than Brave, Cars 2, and Monsters University. Still, it can't hold up to the best of Disney (That would be The Lion King). Overall Rating: 9/10 Would I recommend it? I would recommend it to anyone who's a fan of animated movies, Disney movies, and to people who play video games because it's more than just a love letter to gamers but it's a well written movie with heart, humour, and a really good story that can appeal to all ages. Captain Amurica is taking time out of his busy schedule fighting HYDRA to tell us what he thinks about his web-slinging pal, The Amazing Spider-Man.
The Amazing Spider-Man Genre: Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi Age Certification: PG-13 Director: Marc Webb Writers: James Vanderbilt, Alvin Sargent, Steve Kloves Notable Actors: Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, Sally Field Release: 4/16/2012(Tokyo), 5/2/2012(US), English Synopsis: Peter Parker is an average teenager who attempts to discover his father's secrets which lead him to his destiny of becoming Spider-Man. Review Acting: 9/10 Each character felt brilliantly cast and I felt with each character with the exception of the Lizard. This isn't an acting problem but more of a writing one. I didn't connect with him that well, he didn't express much personality and he wasn't fleshed out. Other than that, everyone was cast perfectly and played their roles really well. Writing: 9/10 The story was really good and well written but again, I feel like they could've fleshed out the Lizard more, but this is a minor issue compared to everything else and it was a great story that kept me interested. Sound/Music: 8/10 I'm not one to pick out music from the background of a movie, simply because I'm too invested in the story, but I felt like this movie had a good soundtrack and fit the movie and the scenes rather well. Visuals: 10/10 I loved the visuals and the action sequences. They were awesome and they felt really well made. It looked very impressively made and I give props to Marc Webb for the great visuals. "Feels": 10/10 [MAJOR PLOT SPOILERS] The feels were good in the movie. I really felt bad for Peter as Uncle Ben died and as Captain Stacey gave a dying wish to leave Gwen alone was touching and I felt for him. This was a great thing as I don't often have feels in these movies but this was well executed. Personal Experiences: I never read comic books as a kid so these kinds of movies are somewhat new to me but I love them all the same and this movie was no exception. One thing I did like is how they toned down the action sequences to focus more on the story. There's obvious action still and it was awesome but I loved the greater emphasis on story. It made for a nice change of pace with the usual superhero movies these days. Would I recommend it? Yes I would because it has awesome action, a surprisingly good story, and it has awesome visuals and effects. For the superhero movie fan this movie is gonna be awesome. If you're not you may still find entertainment in the story. This is a great movie I recommend for anyone to check out. Overall Rating: 9.5/10 In an all new review for The Inbetweeners, Factor tells us what can go wrong when trying to imitate a classic.
The Inbetweeners Episodes: 12 Age Certification: TV-MA Directors: Iain Morris Writers: Ryan Ridley Notable Actors: Bubba Lewis, Zack Pearlman, Joey Pollari, Mark L. Young Released: 2012, English Plot Outline: Four high school friends are not cool or popular, but not total dorks, either. Review Acting: 1/10 This is just disgusting to watch. None of this is funny, and the jokes are the exact same as the ones from the UK version, just done worse. The characters are not believable, the monologues from Will are monotone and boring. It's just not good, the characters don't fit their part at all. Writing: 1/10 The writing is atrocious, the jokes aren't subtle or timed right. They're just copied, line for line. Sound/Music: 1/10 Not much here to begin with, but basically the music gives away the jokes and it's just annoying to listen to. Visuals: 1/10 The camera in this didn't catch the feeling like the original Inbetweeners did. It's just your original teen drama. "Feels": 1/10 I couldn't bond with any of the characters. They didn't fit their parts at all and none of their actions were justified. Sometimes it's too obnoxious and annoying for me to keep watching. Personal Experience: Well, I hated this. Jay is overweight and overly obnoxious and just unlikable in the sense. Will looks like a Jonas brother and can't fit the part of the nerdy kid right unlike Simon Bird does as Will in the UK version. Simon looks like a popular kid as well, and wouldn't be in the part of an "Inbetweener". Neil, oh god Neil, he looks like he's so stupid he's smart. He looks like a stoner unlike the original one that just hangs loose and is carefree and stupid. Would I recommend it? No, stay away from this abomination of a remake. It really killed The Inbetweeners for me and it'll also kill the series for you as well. Overall Rating: 1/10 An abomination of a remake and should be burned with fire. |
