TTPK Tal reviews one of his all-time favourites, the highly successful and critically acclaimed The Dark Knight. The Dark KnightMovie: The Dark Knight
Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama, Thriller Director: Christopher Nolan Age Certification: PG-13 Writers: Jonathan Nolan, Christopher Nolan, David S. Goyer Notable Actors: Heath Ledger, Chrisitian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Aaron Eckhart Release: 2008 (Various), English Plot Outline: The Dark Knight shows how the Batman's presence in Gotham City has also allowed for the rise of criminals such as the Joker and the clash of their different mentalities. REVIEW Acting: 10/10 Even though Christian Bale's Batman is one of the worst, he is, in my opinion, the best Bruce Wayne ever, supplemented with strong performances by Michael Caine as Alfred, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox and outstanding ones by Gary Oldman and Aaron Eckhart. But it's time to get to the real star, Heath Ledger. He is the best Joker to exist on screen, with one of the finest performances on film ever. He sold his role as The Joker and this can be terrifyingly real for some people. Writing: 10/10 The script was brilliant for a dark superhero movie. The story was great, thrilling and had The Batman in ruins at times, offering great action, great plot progression and adequate pacing. The Nolan brothers' screenplay along with Nolan's and Goyer's adaptation of the comic book story is very well done. The Dark Knight does have some minor flaws like the opening scene and the hospital scene being forgotten quickly. Directing: 10/10 Nolan is a unique director, but he has things he always does like the disjointed story telling. Here, however, it fully works. Every time I rewatch, I see something new in the movie that I haven't seen before. Nolan directed The Dark Knight amazingly. Soundtrack: 8/10 The sound assets are great, but the soundtrack for the motion picture isn't particularly noteworthy. While not being bad, it's not great either and it's not something I'd go and listen to in my free time. Visuals: 10/10 The action is amazing, thrilling, constantly moving, perfectly paced and looks amazing. The disturbingly high budget helped alot with that. "Feels": 10/10 **MINOR PLOT SPOILERS** In The Dark Knight, you really feel the mental issues that both the main characters, villains and the characters to become villains are all really relatable with their own tragedies and character development. I can even relate to the Joker. Personal experience: The Dark Knight is my 10th favorite film. While I do see its flaws, like the bullshit ending, it still is an amazing movie you can watch solely for Heath Ledger's performance as The Joker. Seeing this movie and counting 16 times, not getting sick of even a single moment really means it's great for rewatching. Overall rating: The Dark Knight gets a 10/10. Would I recommend to others: Very much so. Not the review we deserve, but the review we needed comes from %Limbo Hengoku, who saw Batman: The Dark Knight.
Batman: The Dark Knight Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama, Thriller Age Certification: PG-13 Director: Christopher Nolan Writers: Christopher Nolan, David S. Goyer Notable Actors: Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Heath Ledger, Gary Oldman, Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Morgan Freeman Release: 7/14/2008(New York City), 7/18/2008(United States), English Plot Outline: When Batman, Gordon and Harvey Dent launch an assault on the mob, they find themselves confronted with The Joker, who is bent on turning Gotham on itself and bringing any heroes down to his level. Review Acting: 10/10 Everyone nailed it and did a very good job. Heath Ledger as The Joker was excellent and fits his role perfectly. He was so believable that I actually thought he was crazy. Furthermore, Christian Bale as Batman/Bruce Wayne did really well. Writing: 10/10 The story is really interesting. There is some good character development and all around great dialogue. There were no unnecessary scenes. Sound/Music: 10/10 The soundtrack sounded really cool and it fit each every scene. It influenced the moments positively, as did the sound effects. Visuals: 10/10 Everything looked fantastic and the visuals added greatly to the overall experience. Two-Face's burnt left side looked incredibly real. The Dark Knight had good shots of the characters and had some good cinematography as well. "Feels": 9/10 I did get emotionally invested, because there are some sad scenes where you feel sorry for the characters. The one that got me was The Joker. He really sent chills down my spine and I actually believed he was crazy. The movie as a whole was very exciting and I was really happy the entire time. Personal Experiences: The Dark Knight was awesome and I really liked The Joker. My favorite parts are when he tells the story about how he got his scares. Another thing I liked was how Batman just appears and disappears and I thought that he was really bad-ass. My only problem is that they don't show Two-Face long enough. He was cool and I wish he had gotten more screen time. Other than that, The Dark Knight did everything right and did all the characters justice. Overall Rating: 9.5/10 Would I recommend it? Yes I would because this movie is really good and it's something everyone should see at least once. Factor hits us with his latest review for the TV series Arrow.

He returns five years later a changed man, determined to clean up the city as a hooded vigilante armed with a bow. Review Acting: 10/10 The acting is phenomenal. It really made me capture the essence of what was going on in each scene, making it very realistic. Writing: 8/10 I liked the writing, the characters are developed well and easy to understand. Unfortunately, there are a few unnecessary scenes, but that doesn't take away from the overall experience. Sound/Music: 10/10 Arrow's soundtrack is really cool. It captures the intensity in the action scenes perfectly. Visuals: 9/10 I loved the visuals, especially during the action scenes. They looked outstanding and one of a kind to me personally, very well done in general. "Feels": 10/10 I could feel that I was really in the show and feel the drama and hardships the characters are feeling, which is awesome so I could get a better understanding of the characters and how they react to certain situations. Personal Experiences: I really liked Arrow. I was hooked from the very beginning of the first episode to now, all the action and the build-up to the villains. It's really awesome and you should check it out. Some villains make cameos ranging from one to several episodes in Arrow, which is really sweet. Would I recommend it? Yeah, it has great action, a great storyline, and great characters overall. It's lots of fun to watch and it's simply epic. Overall Rating: 9.4/10 Is it a bird, is it a plane? No, it's +Limbo Hengoku, giving us the low-down on DC Comics' Superman reboot, Man of Steel.

Review Acting: 8/10 Everyone in this movie did a great job and they were believable. Henry Cavill nailed it as Superman. He looked the part and acted the part really well. Michael Shannon could've done better but he was decent as general Zod. Writing: 8/10 The story was interesting and was good. It introduced the characters and the dialogue was good. The action sequences were cool and intense but less could've been better. Also the first half of the movie at time was kind of choppy too. Soundtrack/Music: 8/10 Soundtrack was good. It added intensity to the action scenes and fit each scene well. Visuals: 8/10 The visuals were good. Also the cinematography was good as well. Everything looked great. Feels: 6.5/10 The movie was very intense and exciting. It kept me at the edge of my seat. This movie had me happy the entire time because everything was enjoyable. Also felt the growing connection between Superman and Lois Lane. Would I recommend it? I'd recommend this because is it was truly a good movie. I liked it, it was enjoyable and I loved Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark. This movie had a lot of cool action. Worth the watch in my opinion. Overall Rating: 8/10 Personal Experience: [MINOR PLOT SPOILERS] This movie was really good. I thought the action sequences were really cool. Also liked how when Superman flew for the first time he actually showed emotion. He actually acts human in this movie despite being from another world and I liked that. I thought it was a cool way to start a Superman reboot. I walked out the movie theater pretty pleased. |
